K’ya – Street Fare or Street Gravel?

From Rapid Rewards Dining

Your Comment:

“I’m known for my strong sense of taste, and smell. The food was lousy. The filet mignon skewers tasted like liver. The rice was absolutely tasteless. The churros were rock hard, and the ice cream was boring vanilla. The lobster (craw-fish) ravioli was too bland for even my taste-buds. The romaine, cranberry, blue cheese salad was very good, but not worth $6 for the tiny plate they served it on. Not impressed at all.”

K’ya’s response:

I am very sorry to hear about your poor dining experience at our hotel. Our executive chef is rated as one of the highest in Orange County, and great food quality along with friendly service is what he tries to achieve for every guest. I will be sure to personally share your experience with our chef and we hope you give us another opportunity in the future to exceed your expectations. Thank You, Kya Street Fare

Here’s my reply back to K’ya:

Was your executive chef preparing our meals that night? If so, and your chef is rated as one of the highest in Orange County, that doesn’t say much for your patrons and their taste buds. It also seems others agree that your chef is not one of the highest rated in Orange County: http://www.yelp.com/biz/kya-street-fare-anaheim#query:k%27ya – otherwise you’d have closer to 5 starts, not an average rating of 3ish stars.

When was the last time your restaurant received a Zagat rating/award? I don’t see mention of one on your website, and if your chef truly was one of the highest rated, wouldn’t you have a Zagat rating?

I do see mention of Chef of  the Year in March 2010, but it doesn’t state who the review is from. Does the reviewer not stand by their review? That said, I can only speak for the night in question, and that night gave me no reason to return.

Had you admitted things have been off, and not up to par, I might have considered returning. But since you think this is your and your chefs’ best, I again have no need to return.

I stand by my 2.5 star rating. But I do thank you for replying.

Best of luck to you!
